The Sierra Club and The Sierra Club FoundationThe Sierra Club gives citizens the information and the means to make their voices heard. With 1.3 million members and supporters in 65 chapters and over 400 local groups nationwide, it has the resources to empower people and influence public policy through community activism, public education, lobbying, and litigation. While the Club is the worlds oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization, it makes effective use of the newest technologyits electronic activist network numbers 600,000. Hundreds of media spokespeople extend that reach, delivering to millions of Americans the Clubs message advocating smart energy solutions, safe and healthy communities, and the preservation of Americas wild legacy. The Sierra Club Foundation administers deductible funds granted and contributed in support of projects that further the charitable purposes of The Foundation. The Foundation is a public 501(c)(3) charitable organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. The mission of The Foundation is to advance the preservation and protection of the natural environment by empowering the citizenry, especially democratically-based grassroots organizations, with charitable resources to further the cause of environmental protection. The Sierra Club is the vehicle through which The Foundation generally fulfills its charitable mission. |
